Training/Experience Substitutions

Many of our job postings allow experience to substitute for degrees, or vice versa. The way in which the substitution is calculated depends on the specific job being posted, but generally it is on a year-for-year basis. Some job classifications allow us to consider semester hours completed as a substitution toward experience, even if the degree has not been completed. For education to count towards a substitution, your transcripts/diploma must be provided with the application prior to the job posting closure date.

Example:

The Business Operations Assistant Senior position requires a high school diploma (or GED) and 4 years of experience in accounting, budgeting, project monitoring and reporting, personnel, or procurement and property. 

  • An applicant could qualify with substitutions using a regionally accredited Associate's degree and 2 years of experience OR a regionally accredited Bachelor's with no experience.
