The WVDOT has partnered with BridgeValley Community & Technical College to create the Highway Engineering Technology Program. This program offers academic credit toward an A. A. S. degree in Highway Engineering Technology. These technical positions involve working under experienced technicians or civil engineers to help build, design, and maintain roads and bridges.
The TRET and Bridge Safety Inspector programs consist of five levels of certification based on work experience, education, and competency. These certifications are awarded by the WV Transportation Engineering Technician Certification Board.
